Reddit is my first Tamagotchi since childhood. I really liked his shell and got him, blissfully unaware that the version I grew up with was a Gen 3 and not a Gen 1 Tamagotchi. Still willing to experience handling a Gen 1 pet though, I decided to stick with him, interested in how Tamagotchis first worked originally.

Getting used to not having a pause function took a bit of time, and shamelessly I resetted Reddit while he was still Marutchi. It was because I hadn't gotten used to the cycles of behaviour yet, and I wasn't going to let my baby sleep with poop next to it!

But eventually, he grew into Tamatchi and then Mametchi first try! I was really proud of myself, considering I was keeping an eye on him constantly during the Christmas Week of 2025 lol. I refused to feed him snacks when his happiness metre ran out, so whenever I had to fill that I thanked silently that the Tamas at least had a mute function when playing the minigame!
